UI/UX Designer (Remote)

Position Overview
Synchrony Group is seeking a talented and creative UI/UX Designer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role will be responsible for designing intuitive, user-centered digital experiences that align with business goals and delight our users. The ideal candidate combines strong visual design skills with a deep understanding of user research, interaction design, and usability principles.
Key Responsibilities
User Research & Analysis
- Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics review
- Develop user personas, journey maps, and user flows based on research findings
- Analyze user behavior data to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements
- Present research insights and design recommendations to cross-functional teams
Design & Prototyping
- Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes for web and mobile applications
- Design intuitive user interfaces that balance aesthetics with functionality
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries
- Ensure designs are responsive and optimized for various devices and screen sizes
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, testing results, and stakeholder input
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders throughout the design process
- Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Present and defend design decisions with clear rationale grounded in user needs and business goals
- Provide design specifications and assets to development teams
- Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs
Testing & Optimization
- Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to validate design solutions
- Analyze test results and translate findings into actionable design improvements
- Perform accessibility audits to ensure WCAG compliance
- Monitor post-launch metrics and user feedback to identify enhancement opportunities
- Continuously refine designs based on data and user insights
Design Systems & Standards
- Contribute to and maintain the company's design system and pattern library
- Ensure consistency across all digital products and touchpoints
- Stay current with UI/UX trends, tools, and best practices
- Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the organization
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of professional UI/UX design experience
- Portfolio demonstrating strong UI/UX design work across web and mobile platforms
- Experience with the full design process from research through implementation
Technical Skills
- Expert proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch
- Strong skills in prototyping tools (Figma, InVision, Principle, or similar)
- Experience with design systems and atomic design methodology
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles
- Familiarity with user research tools (UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, Hotjar, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing for SaaS platforms or enterprise applications
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
- Experience with motion design and micro-interactions
- Background in user research methodologies (contextual inquiry, card sorting, A/B testing)
- Contributions to open-source design projects or design communities
- Experience mentoring junior designers
